Taemin Ahn is a first-year MSW student at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, graduating in 2022. He is the first-year co-chair of the MSW Student Alliance. He holds a BSFS in Latin American studies from Georgetown University. Prior to graduate school, Taemin worked as a research analyst on Latin American financial crime and as a youth counselor for a gang prevention and intervention program in Northern Virginia. Taemin speaks Spanish, Korean, and Portuguese.

Taemin’s research interests lie in the determinants of intergenerational trauma expression in Asian-American and Latinx communities, and tracking mental health outcomes in the children and families of immigrants and refugees. Taemin is also interested in how public policy decisions impact community mental health in immigrant populations. At Luskin, Taemin is currently placed with LAUSD’s school mental health program. After completing his MSW, Taemin plans to pursue licensure and work to develop culturally informed clinical methods to address immigration trauma.
