Monica Salinas Policy Fellow
Alejandra is a first-generation Latina from Costa Rican and Mexican parents. She is currently an undergraduate student, studying Economics with a potential minor in Public Affairs at UCLA. She is expected to graduate in Spring 2024. She has been a dedicated leader and a role model to other women of color to pursue leadership positions. She was the 2019-2020 Nevada Association of Student Councils President and is currently working in the Office of the President under the Undergraduate Students Association Council as the Future Student Leaders of Color Conference Outreach Co-chair. Her work as a student leader has been to empower other students to enact change in their communities. Her research interests include healthcare policy, immigration, and education, focusing on the effects on Latinx communities through community engagement. She hopes to continue to fight for representation in leadership through the Latino Policy & Politics Initiative. She also wants to continue her education with a Master’s degree in Economics or Public Policy in the future and lobby for policy changes in Congress.
